Privacy Policy
Clarity · Last updated: June 2026
Clarity ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account we collect your email address, first name, last name, and display name. These are used to identify your account and personalise your experience within the app.
Portfolio Data
We store the holdings you add to your portfolio, including ticker symbols, share quantities, average cost basis, target prices, and sector assignments. This data is associated with your account and used to power your portfolio view, AI features, and exports.
Watchlist Data
Tickers you add to your watchlist are stored in your account and used to generate AI watchlist analysis.
Preferences
App preferences you configure — including home currency, date format, default tab, sort order, and notification settings — are stored in your account.
Device Data
We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or precise location data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To display and manage your investment portfolio
- To fetch real-time and end-of-day market prices for your holdings
- To generate AI-powered explanations and daily digests via Anthropic Claude
- To send optional notifications (only if you grant permission)
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the app over time
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or financial data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
Clarity uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — infrastructure, authentication (Cognito), and database (DynamoDB). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Anthropic Claude — AI-generated holding explanations and daily digests. Your ticker symbols and portfolio context are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their API.
- Alpaca Markets — real-time and historical market price data. Ticker symbols are sent to Alpaca's API to retrieve prices. No personal account information is shared with Alpaca.
Third-party API keys and secrets are stored in AWS Secrets Manager and are never exposed to the client application.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on AWS infrastructure in encrypted form, both in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito. We do not store your brokerage credentials or financial account login information — Clarity tracks portfolios you enter manually.
5. Your Rights
You may:
- Update your profile information at any time in the Settings tab
- Export a copy of your portfolio as a CSV from Settings → Export Portfolio
- Delete all holdings at once from Settings → Clear All Holdings
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
6. Children's Privacy
Clarity is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Clarity is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Significant changes will be communicated within the app.
